VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Whether you have money, skills, or time - whether you want to work at the shelter, the Thrift Store, or from home - Alpine Humane Society has a job for you! As an all-volunteer organization, we rely heavily on community participation to help us accomplish our mission. Choose from the list below or offer up another idea by contacting us!

Walk Dogs or Cuddle Cats

Dogs require exercise and cats need human interaction. This is one of our most important volunteer jobs! Dog walking is 9-10a & any hour between 3-5p, M-F. Requires a one-time training session & signing a waiver. Must be 18 or accompanied by an adult. Dog walking is done at the shelter. (Weekend dog walking coming soon!) Cat cuddling at the shelter or the AHS Thrift Store. Contact us if this sounds like the job for you!

Thrift Store

The Alpine Humane Society Thrift Store needs you! All proceeds from the Thrift Store go to AHS. We need volunteers to sort through incoming donations, prepare inventory, stock shelves, and more. Retail experience not required! Flexible shifts available Tue-Sat 10-5 and Mon afternoons. Contact us if this sounds like the job for you!  (The cats are kept in the Cat Room so if you're allergic, you can still volunteer.)
If you can't volunteer, DONATE & SHOP!!
Alpine Humane Society Thrift Store is located at:
706 N 5th St (next door to Uncle's Alon gas station)

Promote Adoptions

We rely on supporters to help us spread the word about adoptable shelter dogs & cats. Post fliers around town or at your office/business. We provide the fliers! Share our posts on Facebook, Instagram & Twitter. Talk to your friends, neighbors, and coworkers about the adoptable animals at the shelter! Help us spread the word about our monthly Adoption Days.

Photographers, Graphic Designers,
& Social Media Gurus

Professional (or aspiring pro) photographers, we need professional quality portraits of every dog & cat in the shelter & Thrift Store. Social media gurus, we could use admins to help with our postings. Graphic artists, we need help with branding and creating flyers, posters, ads, etc. We could use help maintaining our website and creating content for the AHS newsletter, social media, & website. If you'd like to use your skills to fill any of these jobs, please contact us!

Corporate Partners

Local businesses are very important to Alpine Humane Society! We can provide you with attractive fliers of happy-looking shelter animals to hang in your business/office. Your customers & clients will love the cute pups & kitties! Seasonal opportunities include accepting donations for shelter animals and a "Giving Tree" to help raise funds & awareness for Alpine shelter animals during Christmas. If you are interested in becoming a corporate sponsor, contact us.

Foster

The city shelter does not have a foster program, but one of our Community Partners, Jethro Homeward Bound Pets, fills in the gap when needed. If you'd like to foster a dog or cat, contact JHBP. Foster families are carefully screened so be prepared to fill out an app, supply vet references, and have a home check. Fosters are needed for special medical cases (such as a broken leg or motherless kittens), when the shelter is overcrowded, or when an animal is not doing well in the shelter environment. Contact JHBP for more info: Email, Facebook, Website.

Kennel Cleaners

AHS volunteers fill in the gaps for city shelter staff by cleaning kennels twice a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. It's a dirty job, but the shelter staff and animals depend on us! If you'd like to volunteer for this under-appreciated but absolutely indispensable task, contact us: admin@alpinehumanesociety.org
